Accessibility at Love to Ride Schools

We want every teacher, parent and student to be able to use our platform. This page explains our commitment to accessibility and the steps we've taken so far.

Our commitment

Love to Ride Schools aims to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA across its public website. The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 are the international standard for making web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including visual, motor, cognitive and auditory impairments.

We design our pages to be perceivable, operable, understandable and robust, and we review them regularly as the platform grows.

What we've done

We've made a number of improvements to support keyboard, screen-reader and reduced-movement users:

  • Skip to content link on every page, so keyboard users can bypass the navigation and jump straight to the main content.
  • Keyboard operability for all interactive controls, including the iPad tap-counter and leaderboard filters, with visible focus indicators.
  • Landmarks and headings using semantic <main>, <header> and <nav> regions and a single descriptive <h1> per page.
  • Descriptive page titles on every route, so each page is identifiable in tabs, history and screen-reader announcements.
  • Form accessibility with programmatically associated labels, announced error messages (role="alert"), and aria-invalid / aria-describedby wiring on our sign-up, contact and submission forms.
  • Status not conveyed by colour alone — our service status bars and leaderboard mode chips now expose their meaning to assistive technology via accessible names.
  • Reduced motion support: animations and transitions are automatically disabled for visitors who set prefers-reduced-motion.
  • Live regions announce dynamic updates such as report insights and service-status changes.
  • Improved colour contrast for secondary and footer text, with focus-visible rings on interactive elements.

Known limitations

This is an actively maintained site and some areas are still being improved:

  • Third-party content embedded on some pages (for example marketing trackers) is outside our direct control, though we keep such embeds to a minimum.
  • Colour-contrast and reflow are continually measured; if you find a page that's hard to read, please let us know.
  • Some complex data charts are best experienced on a larger screen; we provide text alternatives and downloadable data where possible.

Reporting an accessibility issue

If you experience any difficulty using this site, or have a suggestion for how we could improve accessibility, we'd be grateful to hear from you.

Email us at schools@lovetoride.net and include the page address and a short description of what you found difficult.
